Sheldrake Point Winery is named for the prominent point of land on which it sits, located on the western shore of Cayuga Lake. Operated as an orchard and dairy farm from 1850 to the mid-1980s, the 155-acre lakeshore farm lay fallow until 1997 when a small group of wine enthusiasts organized the purchase of the land and founded the winery. 

Today, Sheldrake Point Winery continues the agricultural tradition with 57 acres of vineyard planted to ten vitis vinifera varieties, which are used to make approximately 8,500 cases of estate grown, produced, and bottled table and ice wines.

Sheldrake Point Winery was twice named New York State Winery of the Year, and has been listed among the Top 100 Wineries by Wine & Spirits magazine in three different years.

Dry Riesling - Wild Ferment

Grapes were harvested between 12 and 18 degrees, frozen on the vine.  At that temperature, the water freezes as ice but we capture the unfrozen sweet essence, drop by precious drop, to create this rare and exquisite dessert wine.

A medium-bodied dry red wine grown from our small Block 3 of Pinot Noir.  Hand harvested and carefully aged in older oak, this is a delightful wine that surprises many!
